Arnar Jonsson

Arnar is a partner, founding member and CEO of ALM Finance.

Arnar started his carreer in 1990 as CFO of the Icelandic Management Association. After finishing a graduate degree from Copenhagen Business School in 1995, he joined Hf. Eimskipafelag Islands as Chief Treasurer. Main responsibilty was the management of foreign exchange and interest rate risk as well as managing the firms derivatives positions.

Arnar joined Landsbanki in 1997 as an account manager in corporate banking and later on to taking responsibility for developing the derivatives business for the bank. The main focus was on foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives, later expanding into other asset classes. He managed the foreign exchange derivatives positions for the bank until 2003. Arnar was appointed group head of FX and derivatives sales in 2003 , responsible for all main capital markets activities, ranging from structuring, trading and sales accross all asset classes with main business units in Reykjavik, London, and continental Europe.

Arnar is a lecturer in International Finance, both at the University of Iceland and Reykjavik University.

Arnar holds a Cand. Oecon (business administration) degree from the University of Iceland and a MSc degree in finance and accounting from Copenhagen Business School. He also holds a Certificate in Brokerage issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
 

Hjortur H. Jonsson

Hjortur H. Jonsson is a partner and founding member of ALM Finance.

Hjortur began his career in academia in the mid 90’s as an assistant professor at the University of Akureyri, Iceland. He then moved over to the private sector in the area of genetics research, where he led a research group into metabolic diseases within the department for statistics at DeCode genetics. He entered into banking at Landsbanki in early 2004 to build up the structuring and sales of derivatives linked products to Icelandic and international clients in Reykjavik and London.

Having played a key role in setting up and managing derivatives trading and sales operations in Reykjavik and London, Hjörtur possesses extensive knowledge and experience of both the banking side as well as the regulatory and legal framework involved.

Hjortur holds a BSc degree in theoretical physics from the University of Iceland as well as a Dipl. Phys (MSc) degree in elementary particle physics from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He also holds a Certificate in Securities Brokerage issued by the Ministry of Commerce.


Isak S. Hauksson

Isak S
. Hauksson is a partner and founding member of ALM Finance.

Isak has extensive experience in the financial sector. He started working for Landsbanki in early 1998 as a research analyst and shortly after took responsibility for the derivatives consulting/sales service, where he developed and was in charge of the bank's currency overlay program for corporations and pension funds. During the years from 2004 to 2006, Isak managed the bank's interest rate derivatives book along with his other work. In 2007 Isak assembled a team of asset managers for managing alternative asset porfolios for high net worth clients (FX, interest rates and commodites structures).

Isak has a broad experience in ALM, risk management, and implementing derivatives for hedging and investment purposes. Isak has followed the FX and interest rate markets for many years. During his work at Landsbanki he played an important role in implementing and developing new products for corporations and investors in Iceland.

Before joining Landsbanki, Isak worked as a researcher in applied physics at the Science Institute of Iceland, Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh and Kyoto University in Japan. He is an author or co-author of more than 30 reviewed scientific papers.

Isak holds
a BSc degree in Physics from the University of Iceland and a PhD degree in Physics from Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh. He also holds a Certificate in Securities Brokerage issued by the Ministry of Commerce.


Sigurdur Kr. Egilsson

Sigurdur Kr. Egilsson is a partner of ALM Finance

Sigurdur has extensive experience in the domestic and international financial sector. He joined the risk department at Kaupthing bank in 1998 and moved a year later into the bank's asset management. Sigurdur worked both in the bank's asset management in Iceland as well as it's international offices, where he for most of his time held the position of Head of asset management for institutional clients.

Sigurdur possesses extensive experience and knowledge on asset management and has through his career managed a variety of funds, including bond and equity funds as well as diversified international portfolios. Under his supervision Kaupthing's asset management for institutional clients grew it's assets under management to approx. €2 billion, including the successfull Frjalsi pension fund managed by Kaupthing.

Sigurdur regularly contributes to journals and newspapers on the topic of asset management and was i.e. the editor of Lifeyrisbokin, a reference book for managers of pension funds.

Sigurdur holds a Cand Scient. degree in engineering from the University of Iceland and a Certificate in Securities Brokerage issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
